Thiess secures A$2.3bn contract extension for Lake Vermont

Thiess has announced a contract extension valued at A$2.3bn ($1.5bn) over three years at Jellinbah Group’s Lake Vermont coal mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. The new agreement, which supersedes the existing contract set to expire in 2026, will now extend until June 2028. Lefroy secures first toll milling deal for Lucky Strike

Australian company Lefroy Exploration has secured its first toll milling agreement for processing ore from the Lucky Strike gold project at the Greenfields Mill in Coolgardie, Australia. The agreement was facilitated by BML Ventures and FMR Investments, the company’s mine profit-sharing partners. The toll milling agreement stipulates a one-month milling slot from 29 January 2026 to 26 February 2026, with the possibility of minor scheduling adjustments.

Element 25 secures financing to expand manganese project

Australian miner Element 25 has secured a senior debt finance facility of up to A$50m ($32.5m) from the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility, a Commonwealth Government financier, to expand its 100%-owned Butcherbird manganese project in WA. The financing will boost Butcherbird’s production capacity to 1.1 million tonnes per annum of manganese oxide concentrate. The expansion will facilitate the supply of feedstock to a planned processing facility in Louisiana, US.

NRW signs A$167m contract with Rio Tinto for Brockman

NRW Civil & Mining, has secured an A$167m ($110m) contract from Rio Tinto for work at the Brockman Syncline 1 mine development, situated in the Pilbara region of WA. NRW will undertake the construction of earthworks, roadworks and drainage related to the primary crusher, overland conveyor and non-process infrastructure. The contract is set to commence in July 2025.
