Brazil Iron offers $1bn for ERG’s Bamin project in Brazil
UK-based miner Brazil Iron has made a bid of approximately $1bn (£772m) to acquire the Bahia Mineração project (Bamin) in Brazil from Kazakhstan-based Eurasian Resources Group (ERG). The Bamin project is an integrated mining and logistics initiative that has attracted interest from various parties. The offer from Brazil Iron could enable ERG to recover the majority of its initial investment in the project, said one of the sources.
Aurion, KoBold sign agreement for critical minerals exploration in Finland
Canadian miner Aurion Resources has entered into an agreement with KoBold Exploration Finland for the exploration of critical minerals in Finland. Aurion grants KoBold the right to earn a 75% interest in commodities, excluding gold or silver, found in the project area. KoBold agreed to spend $12m on exploration within five years, and is required to commit $1m within the first 18 months.
Energy Fuels, Chemours partner to establish US critical minerals supply chain
US uranium producer Energy Fuels has formed a strategic alliance with the Chemours Company to enhance US domestic rare earth and critical mineral supply chains. The alliance will leverage the complementary geographic and operational strengths of both companies to meet the increasing demand for these resources. Energy Fuels is expanding its global footprint with new heavy mineral sands projects in Madagascar, Brazil and Australia.
Ndalamo Resources acquires coal mine in South Africa
South African mining company Ndalamo Resources has announced the acquisition of the Wonderfontein coal mine in Mpumalanga, South Africa, from Umsimbithi Mining. Wonderfontein operates at a peak mining rate of 4.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) and is expected to continue mining operations until 2030. The mining right extends until 2 June 2037, providing a long-term operational horizon for Ndalamo.
